Oman continues to be a reliable favourite on the travel map. Sitting on the edge of the Arabian Sea between the Indian and African continents, Oman has plenty to explore, and away from the luxury hotels in the capital Muscat, a rugged interior begs to be explored. You could choose to self-drive your own four-wheel vehicle in Oman, and pick your own adventure weaving a path through lush wadis and fjords, seeking out the hidden villages within the folds of the Jebel Akdar in the north of the country. For a desert fix, head south to the Wahiba Sands spending a few night’s under the stars in the company of the Bedouin. Swim in lush palm fringed canyons, watch turtles hatch on white sandy beaches and discover the frankincense trail in Salalah – the capital of the Dohfar region. Oman is known for its excellent diving and dhow tours of the coast spotting dolphins along the way, and you’d be hard pushed to find a more hospitable destination.
